SAMMI + AARON’S PERFECT SUMMER NIGHT AT LONGVIEW MANISON

August 20th, 2025

We really lucked out with the perfect weather for Sammi and Aaron’s engagement session. A mild summer evening with a gorgeous sunset at Longview Mansion was the backdrop to document their love. Sammi and Aaron wanted a more editorial look to their images, and with the sharpness of medium format film, I think we did just that.

All the shots below are shot on my Contax 645 with Portra 800 film. Golden light seeped it’s way into each of these photographs. Shadows danced from the sway of the trees, and the cicadas sang their nostalgic late summer melody. The evening felt like a Jane Austen novel, but in the happily ever after bit.

Film has taught me not to shy away from light in all it’s forms. Moving indoors and outdoors with one film stock present’s a challenge, but also some creative freedom to let film do what it does best: surprise me, and knock my socks off with it’s texture, color, and sharpness. (Yes, good, well exposed film is sharp!) These images were developed and scanned by Richard Photo Lab, edited by me.
