S + J were married on a rainy Kansas City afternoon. After flying in from New York City the week before, they were joined by guests who traveled across the globe to celebrate their wedding day. Folks from Germany, Australia, England, and the east coast made the trip to a cloud covered Kansas City to witness S + J's vows at UNION 828. Once the Ketubah was signed and their marriage ceremony was completed, S + J had a private first dance in the rain to Nora Jones's classic, "Come Away With Me." As drinks flowed and guests mingled, the night continued with exceptional catering by The Russel. S + J set out to emphasize their guest's experience. They created an intentional environment, set with low lighting, champagne, and personalized name cards that Sharon made herself. Their focus was to bring their loved ones together from all their different walks of life. I After dinner they traveled through the venue, toasting with each of the tables, completing a beautiful tradition that celebrated S's Chinese heritage. Finally the night came to Sharon and Josh's most anticipated part, the hora. The couple and their guests alike laughed and danced, eyes wide as S + J were hoisted into the air by their friends and family. Nearing the end of the night, during Lost Wax's epic set, guests took the the dance floor and didn't slow down, since the the afterparty was just beginning.

It was an absolute honor to witness Sharon and Josh's wedding day. I cherish working with couples like S + J. There was so much thought and intention put into the wedding day. You'll find their photos documented on 35mm film along with some medium format mixed in. Scroll to the bottom to take a look at their full gallery.
