THE BEST KANSAS CITY VENUES FOR A MICRO WEDDING OR INTIMATE ELOPEMENT
PART ONE
Whether you are throwing an intimate wedding with your closest friends and family, or simply want a unique experience from your venue, these Kansas City wedding venues are ones to watch and add to your list.
I have photographed celebrations at hundreds of wedding venues around Kansas City. Intimate weddings and elopements are always my favorite kind of celebrations because they speak to who the couple is and create the most unique guest experiences. Opting for an engaging environment makes for incredible photos centered around your values, guests having a blast, and it creates a VIBE.
As a documentary style wedding photographer entering into spaces like these always makes my job more creative, interactive, people focused, and ultimately FUN. When you are immersed in an environment like any of these venues, it makes the photos even better, especially when a space has a deeper meaning to you. Take a closer look at some of the most unique venues in Kansas City, and get some inspiration for your micro-wedding or elopement.
THE KANSAS CITY MANSION
The Kansas City Mansion is a gem. I love that you can rent this space out for the weekend and have your guests stay with you. The space is full of character. Megan and Ryan hosted their micro-wedding here with a ceremony on the lawn and dinner party catered by The Russel. The space itself is an antique lover’s dream. I could see so many special celebrations happening here. It is elegant, cozy, and nostalgic for a film photographer like me! My favorite parts of the space are all the different, one of a kind light fixtures, the stained glass windows, and hand crafted details throughout the home!
MEAN MULE DISTILLERY
Mean Mule is there for your party energy. Big windows, cozy vintage seating, and even better Agave Spirits. This local distillery is one of my favorite small businesses to support. Their staff is wonderful and the space is an incredible backdrop to bring your best people and enjoy some drinks, tacos, and a night of celebration. I imagine a ceremony followed by some kind words for the couple and a night filled with laughter and dancing!
THE CAMPBELL DOME HOUSE
Marrying the very best of midcentury design and an immersive garden greenhouse, The Campbell Dome House is epic. The dome house is a midcentury modern dream to act as your version of “The Little White Chapel.” As a film photographer this space is a delight. The light coming in from the dome and the green of the plants contrasts beautifully on film. As a documentary style photographer this space lent itself to guests exploring so well. This one of a kind spot would be ideal for design lovers, plant people, and folks who love a vintage moment.
CORRIGAN STATION
Right in the heart of Downtown Kansas City, there is a rooftop that is calling your name! Corrigan station is one of the best views of the skyline in Kansas City. You can bask in the glow of the sunshine and witness as the sunsets and the city lights up. I was lucky enough to document Madeline and Graham’s engagement party turned surprise wedding on this glorious rooftop on an early May evening. With plenty of seating, pool tables, and a stage for your live band, Corrigan Station is a one of a kind experience for your wedding day.

Florals: Love & Lilacs
THE KEMPER MUSEUM
The Kemper Museum is without a doubt, one of the coolest places to get married in Kansas City. You can be surrounded by art for an evening and have your ceremony in their beautiful cafe Oil on Linen which has the most wonderful light. If you love art, design, and want your guests to get a look at incredible artists, get married at The Kemper (and please hire me?). Sculptural florals, chrome details, and the day captured on film? Sign me up.
TOM’S TOWN DISTILLERY
Tom’s Town leans heavily into the speakeasy vibe. Picture leather couches, jazz music playing, and a slinkly little silk dress! Why not play up the mob-wife vibe? Have at it. This lounge is begging for a cozy night of drinks and conversation with friends. I can see the romantic florals, cheeky cocktails, and flashy details of your guests wearing something that screams the roaring 20s.
COLLONIAL GARDENS
One of my favorite weddings of all time was at this venue. When you think of Colonial Gardens, you might not think “wedding,” but I beg to differ. Madison and Parker got married in the courthyard here amongst all the flowers and it was breathtaking and so intimate. (When you visit in the summer you can pick your own flowers and take home a bouquet.) I can imagine a garden party in this space, a calming walk through the greenhouse, and an extra long table so everyone has a seat together for dinner.
VERBENA AT THE INN AT MEADOWBROOK
The courtyard at Verbena feels like you are sitting on a European patio. Picture an aperol spritz in your hand, enjoying the company of your best friends seated together for a private dinner party wedding. The Inn at Meadowbrook is situated in a park and would be the perfect weekend getaway for your guests. I would work here every weekend if I could! The food is unreal! If you are getting married here, let’s work together!
THE PILGRIM CHAPEL
At the ripe age of 17 I photographed my first wedding at The Pilgrim Chapel alongside another photographer! This sweet little chapel is a staple in Kansas City for intimate ceremonies. The stone chapel is romantic, covered in ivy, and feels like a little church cottage.
