MORE OF THE BEST WEDDING VENUES IN KANSAS CITY FOR INTIMATE WEDDINGS AND ELOPMENTS

PART TWO

As I have established in my last post, I LOVE an intimate wedding. Elopements in Kansas City have always had a special place in my heart. I believe a wedding can be anything you say it is! There are no rules. Elopements and intimate weddings put that belief to the test. You can be personal, intentional, and completely present.

Large weddings are not for everyone and that is okay! Introverts rise up, this one is for you. I work with so many couples that do not want to be the center of attention, but rather want to enjoy the day as they envision it.

Intimate weddings and elopements are endlessly creative. Going a non-traditional route allows for deeply personal places to be the focal point of what brought you and your partner to this moment. I love that micro-weddings focus on the intentional, the experience, and the history of your relationship. These small weddings will always continue to draw me in. Take a closer look at some additional spots to say, “I do.”

YOUR BACK YARD

Okay hear me out, while this is not technically a venue in Kansas City, your backyard is the best place to be. Rent the tent and the dance floor, and gather your favorite people in the place that means the most to you, your home. I have always loved a backyard wedding. I don’t know who needs to hear this, but your wedding doesn’t have to be in a big white room! The day can be intimate, warm, and cozy, just like a dinner party with your best friends. Here is a look at Katelyn and John’s October backyard wedding at their house. (PLEASE hire a wedding planner, they will be a guiding light in the process!) Florals by Lily Floral Collective.

POWELL GARDENS

A gorgeous blue sky overhead, flowing grass on the hills, and nature surrounding you— Powell Gardens is a hidden gem in Kansas City. A winding pathway directs you to a picturesque glass chapel that overlooks the pond and rolling hills. Light seeps it’s way into the chapel for the most romantic ceremonies. I imagine a gathering in the fountain garden surrounded by florals and accompanied by a string trio. It’s giving period piece magic. Planned by Hooch and Honey!

JACKSON COUNTY COURTHOUSE

Eloping at the courthouse has become an iconic statement— one I am a big fan of. I love the art deco design at the Jackson County Courthouse downtown. Paired with going to another of your favorite spots for a drink, or heading back home to your place, eloping has never been so easy, or chic. Elope together and throw a cocktail party after (or don’t this is your day)!

THE SIMPSON HOUSE

Antique and vintage lovers, this one is for you. A delightful, sun-warmed historic stone house absolutely made for an evening dinner party. Daya and Ellie’s wedding day was one of my all time favorite September wedding days. Gather your people and enjoy the charm and detail put into this piece of history. These unbelievable florals are from The Cottage Rose.

THE LOOSE PARK ROSE GARDEN

While I have never photographed a wedding at the Loose Park Rose Garden, I have photographed countless proposals, families and couples there. A wedding at the rose garden is on my short list of venues I would LOVE to document a wedding or elopement at. The garden is dreamy and full of its namesake. Loose Park is a hub for community and gathering in Kansas City. For couples who came here for their first dates, to walks among the trees or picnic in the fields, I could see this being so meaningful for your ceremony. It would be idillic for a garden ceremony with your favorite people dressed to the nines.

THREE POINTS

Another epic rooftop view in downtown Kansas City that can host your party. Imagine a rooftop ceremony, followed by a jazz band and cocktails late into the night. The sun will set across the skyline and your guests can enjoy fires blazing in the conversation pits. With windows surrounding you and your guests, this venue is elegant and sleek. This space is situated to be close to all the fun. I can see your afterparty at Nighthawk down the street! Get into that photobooth— I beg you!

NO VACANCY & LE LOUNGE

Effortlessly cool, welcoming, and an absolute vibe. No Vacancy had changed the boutique hotel game in Kansas City and hosts the most fashionable humans. (Thank you for your service). For the folks who want to lean into a sexy, eccentric, fashion forward atmosphere, Le Lounge is the place for you. With velvet, fringe, and drapery adorning every surface, you can’t help but have a good time. The last evening I spent here over cocktails with friends, turned into an impromptu dance party. Mystical, bold and alluring— get married here and please let me document the whole affair on film.

THE LOOSE MANSION

Historic home lovers, unite! This historic mansion in the heart of Kansas City is detailed, refined, and elegant. The space is fully restored and screams opulence. I can see a room full of candles, romance, and somebody please get a cellist to play during dinner! Owned and operated by a local KC family, this place would be a gorgeous backdrop for your wedding day.

Okay hear me out. Your wedding day can be whatever you say it is. A rave? A picnic? A walk to the courthouse? Great, I’m there. I would love to document your wedding. No matter how big or small, your day has value, and I can’t wait to celebrate you.
